As part of our Manufacturing team, you’ll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we’re continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles.
You'll have...
- Ability to work effectively as an individual or part of a team
- Manual machining skills operating lathe, mill, surface grinder, band saw machines.
- Use and application of precision machine measurement tools – micrometers, indicators, etc.
- CNC experience operating mill & lathe.
- G-Code programming capability to generate simple test programs.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, etc.) to compile information & generate reports.
- Data management skills – Collect & transfer information/data.
- Cutting tool knowledge – geometry, matrix & coating materials, edge preparation, chip mapping.
- Tooling failure mode analysis, effective speed/feeds.
- Strong verbal & written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints.
- Ability to work with minimal direct supervision, adapt & apply new methods, or technologies.
- Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, GD&T etc.).
- Fixture design & manufacturing to support test bed requirements.
- Knowledge in the following Ford software systems: AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS, AIM, CPARS
- 2D & 3D CAD review abilities (Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, or equivalent)
- Exposure / experience with Siemens 840D or Sinumerik1 controls, Fanuc controls.
- Teaching / mentorship of individuals or a group.
- Materials & process knowledge – steels, aluminum grades, characteristics, cutting speeds.
- CMM experience exposure – use, programming, and/or interpretation.
- Familiarity with metrology - surface finish measurement equipment & methods.

What you'll do...
- Develop new change-ready / application ready (CR/AR) manufacturing process technology which is implemented into production applications.
- Test & evaluate alternative materials to determine predicted tool life and quality capability.
- Program & operate cutting-edge machine tools and apply new technologies to avoid or resolve tooling/process issues.
- Collaborate with CAPP group, IIOT leads to deliver manufacturing solutions.
- Interact with cutting tool manufacturers to develop application solutions.
- Conduct & develop solutions for improved predictive machine maintenance monitoring.
- Pilot alternative methods of process monitoring to guard-band for improved process robustness.
- Support Department Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Morale, Environment, and Innovation (SQDCPMEI) initiatives.
- Interface with cross-functional activities (Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs).
