Purpose:
The Manufacturing Engineer is an early to mid-level individual contributor that supports the development and validation of manufacturing processes and equipment for manual, semi-automated, and fully automated production of EVOLOH’s advanced electrolyzer stack products.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide input into the development of effective manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment for electrolyzer cell component fabrication and stack assembly for low, medium and high-volume production environments.
- Analyze and document operator-machine interaction with detailed time and motion studies to identify and improve process bottlenecks.
- Create and maintain process documentation (Process Flow Diagrams, Value Stream Maps, Operator Instructions, PFMEAs, BOMs and ECNs.)
- Observe and support resolution of manufacturing process issues on the production floor.
- Design fixturing and tooling for the development and validation of production concepts.
- Support the design, build, installation, and validation of component processing equipment, product assembly fixtures, and associated tooling.
- Support equipment vendor selection activities by producing effective process documentation.
Expected Results (prioritized high to low)
- Provide input for the development of stack component fabrication and assembly processes and equipment: Effective manual and high-volume fabrication assembly processes that meet production and financial targets.
- Operator-Machine analysis & documentation: Detailed time and motion study information with appropriate summaries and recommendations.
- Development & maintenance of process documentation: Creation of effective operator and inspection instructions, and timely revision to product releases.
- Evaluation and resolution of production issues : Drive the identification, analysis, and resolution of production equipment issues using data-based problem-solving tools like 8-D and root cause analysis.
- Design and build of fixtures and tooling to support production: CAD models for internal and vendor review: occasional in-house fabrication of simple fixturing.
- Development and review of project capital and labor budgets: Develop and track project budgets for materials, labor, and capital.
Qualifications:
Education :
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering from an ABET accredited institution (required)
Work Experience:
- 4+ years experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering capacity (required)
- Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) with equipment and process development (preferred)
- Rapid scale-up of new products & operations (preferred)
