Location: Concord, North Carolina
Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 (DOE)

I'm currently partnering with a well-established manufacturing business in Concord, NC, who are looking to bring on a Manufacturing Engineer with strong PLC and automation expertise. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys both hands-on technical work and mentoring others within a high-performance engineering environment.

The Role

In this position, you will take a lead role in PLC programming, automation systems, and equipment optimisation, while also supporting broader manufacturing engineering initiatives. You will work cross-functionally with Maintenance and Engineering teams to drive process improvements, troubleshoot issues, and implement new technologies.

You will also act as a technical mentor, helping to develop the capabilities of other engineers in control systems and machine integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead PLC programming, debugging, and troubleshooting for automated equipment

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers on control systems and integration

  • Investigate equipment and process issues, identify root causes, and implement countermeasures

  • Develop and revise procedures, and deliver training to minimise operational risk

  • Collaborate on process design, optimisation, and new technology implementation

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including waste reduction and efficiency gains

  • Contribute to tooling, equipment design, and manufacturing system development

  • Participate in projects, new product launches, and production planning activities

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, ISO requirements, and quality systems

About You

  • 5–7 years' experience in manufacturing engineering or automation

  • Strong expertise in PLC programming and industrial automation systems

  • Experience with CNC machining, injection molding, and/or assembly lines

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex equipment and drive root cause analysis

  • Knowledge of Toyota Production System (TPS), Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies

  • Familiarity with ISO standards and quality management systems

  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers is highly desirable

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or similar) preferred
