Overview:
Performs manufacturing engineering tasks which require troubleshooting and interpreting data. Develops and implements new test methods or manufacturing processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Is responsible for sample job or first article part releases related to one or more specific manufacturing processes and ensures a robust process is developed at production startup.
- Has internal engineering responsibility for assigned production departments. Responsibilities include process reviews, process documentation, review of non-conforming material and product/process improvement activities.

Serves as a liaison between the shop floor and the Sales group pertaining to customer requests and changes.
- Reviews blueprints, plans, and other customer documents used to develop and prepare cost estimates or projected changes in production from customers’ use of MEC’s services.

Manages projects as assigned, including conferring with assigned team members, leading the capital equipment justification and implementation,
- Responsible for leading and managing continuous improvement, root cause, and corrective action activities related to a specific process.

Issues written setup and process sheets for operations. These will be known as setup sheets, work instructions, checklists, and run charts.
- Identifies and makes proposals for new technology.
- Recommends method revisions including process equipment, materials, and tooling to improve production performance and provide cost reduction opportunities.

Review and analyze customer part prints, specifications, and other documentation to develop production quotations covering a specific process. This will include production rates, set-up time, and tooling requirements.

Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time to other facilities.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of engineering concepts, practices and procedures engineering standards and systems.

Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing production/cell development.

Ability to read and interpret computer aided drawings and prints.

Ability to manage projects.

Strong interpersonal skills to interact with and motivate a diverse group of people.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent education and experience.

Five years of engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment required.
