Pulp Molding Maintenance Technician
Job Summary
The Pulp Molding Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing pulp molding equipment and supporting production machinery. This role ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. The technician will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives within the production facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Be on-call 24-6
- Perform preventive maintenance on pulp molding machines, dryers, vacuum systems, pumps, conveyors, and associated equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective repairs to minimize downtime.
- Maintain and repair molds, tooling, and forming systems used in pulp molding operations.
- Work with production teams to resolve machine performance issues.
- Inspect equipment and identify opportunities for process or reliability improvements.
- Perform equipment changeovers and assist with mold installation and adjustments.
- Maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and parts inventory records.
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and plant policies.
- Support installation and startup of new equipment or upgrades.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience (manufacturing preferred)
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability
- Experience with pumps, motors, conveyors, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and manuals
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems (CMMS)
- Basic welding and fabrication skills preferred
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience with pulp molding or paper processing equipment
- PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley or similar)
- Industrial electrical troubleshooting (120V–480V)
- Vacuum systems and drying systems
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders regularly
- Work in a manufacturing environment with noise, heat, and moving equipment
Schedule
- Full-time
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required depending on production needs.
- On-call as needed
Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing facility producing molded pulp products. The environment includes industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, and production operations.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
