Manufacturing Quality Engineer

SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer serves as the primary quality representative for the Portland facility, responsible for ensuring that all products meet customer, company, and regulatory requirements. This role develops, implements, and maintains quality processes, manages internal audits, and leads ISO-9001 compliance activities. The Quality Engineer also drives corrective and preventive actions, acts as the main point of contact for all quality-related matters, and helps support basic environmental compliance activities under the direction of the Facility Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Act as the facility’s primary resource for all quality-related activities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures to monitor industrial processes and finished products.
  • Perform inspections, audits, and testing to identify defects, deviations, or opportunities for improvement.
  • Plan, conduct, and document internal audits to ensure compliance with company procedures and ISO-9001 requirements.
  • Serve as the site lead during ISO-9001 certification and surveillance audits, coordinating responses and corrective actions.
  • Collect and analyze quality data (defect rates, yields, customer complaints) and prepare reports for management review.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities to resolve product or process issues.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for customer quality concerns, ensuring issues are tracked, addressed, and effectively closed.
  • Partner with suppliers, purchasing, and engineering to evaluate material conformance, approve parts, and monitor supplier performance.
  • Support engineering and testing teams with failure analysis, production part approval process (PPAP), and technical reporting.
  • Maintain the Quality Management System, including documentation, audit readiness, and updates to procedures as needed.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on quality procedures, standards, and compliance.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, process efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support environmental compliance by working alongside our Facility Manager.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ISO-9001 quality systems and auditing required.
  • Previous experience as the primary or lead quality resource is strongly preferred.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance methods, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Ability to manage internal audits and lead ISO-9001 audits.
  • Working knowledge of supplier quality and basic failure analysis.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality software systems.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements is a plus.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $76,000.00 - $86,000.00 per year
