The Marine Blaster is responsible for the safe preparation, handling, and detonation of explosives for underwater and marine blasting operations related to dredging, rock removal, harbor deepening, offshore construction, and marine infrastructure projects. The role ensures all blasting activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with HSE regulations and local maritime authority requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and execute underwater blasting operations for rock removal, trenching, or seabed clearance.
• Handle, transport, store, and use explosives and detonators in accordance with legal and safety requirements.
• Load and secure explosive charges in drilled underwater holes or designated blast locations.
• Install and connect initiation systems (electric, non-electric, or electronic) suitable for marine environments.
• Coordinate with divers, surveyors, dredging teams, and marine operations personnel.
• Conduct pre-blast safety checks and ensure the blast area is cleared of vessels, personnel, and marine hazards.
• Execute blasts according to approved blast plans and timing sequences.
• Monitor blast results and report performance, including any misfires or irregularities.
• Safely manage and resolve misfires following marine blasting safety procedures.
• Maintain blasting logs, explosive inventory records, and daily activity reports.
• Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, environmental protection requirements, and marine authority regulations.
• Support risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety briefings related to blasting operations.
