Job Purpose
The Marine Cable Engineer – Electrical will be responsible for engineering, construction, and commissioning support of submarine/marine power cable systems for OETC transmission projects. The role involves close coordination with EPC contractors, marine contractors, consultants, and statutory authorities to ensure safe, timely, and compliant project execution.
Key Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for
engineering, construction supervision, and commissioning
of submarine/marine power cable systems.

Experience in Marine Joint installation is a must

Act as the
technical focal point
for marine and submarine cable electrical works throughout the project lifecycle.

Coordinate with
Clients (OETC), EPC Contractors, Marine Contractors, Consultants, and Statutory Authorities

Review and approve
design documents
, method statements, cable routing studies, burial/protection plans, and installation procedures.

Monitor
project progress
, identify risks, and support
cost control and change order management
.

Oversee
marine cable installation, jointing, testing, termination, and commissioning
activities.

Ensure compliance with
OETC standards, international codes, HSE regulations, and contractual requirements
.

Participate in
progress review meetings
, prepare technical reports, and provide regular project updates.

Support troubleshooting during installation and commissioning, including interface management with substations and landfall works.

Ensure quality assurance and documentation for marine cable works.
Experience Requirements
-
Minimum 10–15 years
of experience in electrical transmission projects.

Proven hands-on experience in
submarine / marine power cable projects
(HV / EHV preferred).

Strong exposure to
construction and commissioning
phases of marine cable systems.

Experience working with
utilities, EPC contractors, and offshore/marine contractors
.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree (BE) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
.

Additional certifications in marine/offshore engineering or project management are an advantage.
Preferred Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of
submarine cable design, installation methodologies, testing & commissioning
.

Knowledge of
marine surveys, burial techniques, protection systems
, and interface with onshore substations.

Excellent
stakeholder management and coordination skills
.

Familiarity with
OETC standards
and international standards (IEC, CIGRE, IEEE).

Strong reporting, communication, and problem-solving skills
