Marine Mechanic

Role Overview:

The Marine Mechanical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and machinery onboard vessels and within shipyard facilities. The technician ensures all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and technical standards of the marine industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out mechanical maintenance and repairs on shipboard equipment, including engines, pumps, compressors, hydraulic systems, and fuel systems.
• Assist in the installation of new mechanical systems and equipment during ship construction, refits, or repairs.
• Perform alignment and fitting of mechanical components, including shafts, bearings, seals, and couplings.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of machinery and systems.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, machinery manuals, and piping diagrams (P&IDs).
• Operate mechanical tools and equipment such as torque wrenches, grinders, drills, and hoists.
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, report faults, and suggest corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental policies, including use of PPE and safe work practices.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and equipment condition.
• Support other technicians and departments as needed during major overhauls, dockings, or emergency repairs.

Candidate Profile:

• Diploma or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a marine or shipyard environment.
• Hands-on experience with marine engines, propulsion systems, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and piping.
• Familiarity with classification of society standards and international marine regulations.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and service bulletins.
• Good physical condition and ability to work in confined spaces or onboard moving vessels.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Pay: AED2,000.00 - AED2,500.00 per month
