Marketing and Communications Assistant

The Town of Milford Youth Center is seeking a part-time Marketing & Communications Assistant. This position will be responsible for digital content creation, graphic design, and managing most aspects of the organization’s Social Media presence. The person in this position will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Essential Functions:

· Collaborates with the full-time staff to develop marketing and communications plans to promote programs and events, fundraising efforts, and community partnerships.

· Writes and edits content for website and email marketing efforts, including monthly newsletter.

· Maintains communications with administrative team to schedule web, email, and social media updates.

· Contributes to content development in collaboration with key staff (Annual Report, Annual Campaign, Program and Fundraiser fliers, etc.)

· Supports media and other relevant external partner relationships as needed.

· Manages most aspects of social media presence (website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X (formally Twitter), YouTube, TikTok, and any other platforms the Center may employ).

· Drives strategy to increase daily engagement on social media accounts.

· Leads content creation for social media, including written blog content, tweets, posts & videos.

· Increases awareness of programs, events, and fundraisers.

· Produces strategic timeline for marketing campaigns.

· Monitors, reports, and presents online engagement analytics (web, email, social media, earned media).

· Adapts and employs new marketing strategies and platforms with evolving technology and/or Artificial Intelligence (AI) resources.

Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience

2+ years of relevant professional experience in graphic design, communications and/or marketing, preferably in a nonprofit organization.

Preferred Qualifications, Education, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as journalism, graphic design, public relations, or communications; experience in a nonprofit preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must possess:

o Excellent written and verbal communication skills (candidates selected to interview will be required to complete written performance exercise)

o Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills

o Proven results in implementing marketing, graphic design, and communications strategic plans and in managing social media platforms (Facebook, X (formally Twitter), YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, etc.) and analytics technologies to engage a diverse audience.

o Familiarity with Content Management System (CMS) platforms and basic HTML (WordPress, Canva, Google Suite, etc.)

· Ability to multi-task while managing deadlines.

· Must have a passion for supporting disadvantaged youth and youth mentoring initiatives.

This position will start initially with up to 19 hours/week with a grade 1/step 1 wage of $24.51 per hour. Hours will vary with the schedule of the after school and summer camp programs.

Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to submit samples of their graphic design work.
