Job Title: Marketing Coordinator / OD Liaison (Ophthalmology Practice)
Position Summary
The Marketing Coordinator / OD Liaison serves as a key relationship manager between the ophthalmology practice and referring optometrists and provider offices. This role blends marketing coordination, field-based outreach, and account management responsibilities to strengthen referral relationships, grow service line awareness, and support practice growth. The ideal candidate is relationship-driven, organized, and comfortable functioning in a sales-oriented, healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
OD Liaison & Account Management (Primary Focus)
- Serve as the primary liaison to optometrists and referring provider offices within assigned territories
- Build, maintain, and grow referral relationships through regular in-person visits, calls, and follow-up communications
- Act as an account representative for referring practices, addressing questions, facilitating communication, and ensuring a high level of service
- Promote physicians, subspecialties, and services to referring providers in a professional, ethical manner
- Track referral activity, outreach efforts, and account interactions in CRM or internal tracking systems
- Identify opportunities for referral growth and communicate market feedback to leadership
Sales & Business Development Support
- Support practice growth initiatives through structured outreach and relationship-building efforts
- Assist in developing referral strategies, account plans, and promotional campaigns targeted to OD offices
- Distribute marketing materials, service updates, and educational resources to referring providers
- Represent the practice at professional meetings, conferences, and networking events
- Support physician introductions and referral-driven initiatives
Marketing & Promotional Activities
- Coordinate marketing initiatives that support referral development and patient acquisition
- Assist with content development for provider communications, newsletters, and digital outreach
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all materials and touchpoints
- Maintain inventory and distribution of marketing collateral
Event Planning & Outreach
- Plan and execute OD appreciation events, continuing education programs, open houses, and community events
- Coordinate logistics including scheduling, venues, materials, catering, and follow-up
- Attend and support off-site events as a representative of the practice
Public Relations & Communications
- Support public relations initiatives including announcements, press releases, and provider communications
- Assist with internal communications related to marketing, outreach, and referral initiatives
- Ensure professional, compliant communication aligned with healthcare regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare marketing, medical sales, account management, or provider liaison roles preferred
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Comfort with sales-oriented responsibilities in a healthcare environment
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM or sales tracking experience a plus
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally for provider visits and events
Work Environment & Expectations
- Combination of office-based and field-based work
- Regular travel to optometry and provider offices within assigned territory
- Occasional evening or weekend events
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
