Role Summary
The Marketing Auditor will independently lead and execute structured audits of end-to-end marketing and sales processes. The role focuses on auditing governance frameworks, SOP adherence, CRM and automation systems, lead-to-closure workflows, data integrity, compliance controls, and ROI performance. The incumbent will identify risks, control gaps, inefficiencies, and non-compliance areas, and present detailed audit findings with corrective action plans to senior management.
Core Auditing Responsibilities
Marketing Process Audits
- Conduct periodic audits of marketing strategies, annual plans, campaign execution, budgets, and performance tracking.
- Audit key marketing workflows including campaign planning, approvals, content governance, lead capture, routing, scoring, nurturing, and sales handover.
- Verify adherence to defined SOPs, approval hierarchies, and internal control mechanisms.
Sales Process Audits
- Audit the complete sales lifecycle from enquiry to closure (qualification, opportunity stages, proposals, negotiation, win/loss documentation).
- Assess compliance with defined sales SOPs, SLAs, follow-up cadence, and pipeline governance standards.
- Identify leakages, process deviations, and revenue-impacting gaps.
CRM & Systems Audits
- Audit CRM and marketing automation systems for data accuracy, completeness, and usage discipline.
- Review pipeline data, conversion ratios, TATs, SLA adherence, activity logs, and opportunity tracking for compliance and performance gaps.
- Evaluate tool integration (CRM, automation, analytics) against documented processes and reporting frameworks.
Data Integrity & Control Audits
- Audit campaign metadata, lead source tagging, customer/contact records, opportunity fields, pricing approvals, discount controls, and documentation standards.
- Assess governance mechanisms around pricing, offer communication, and customer engagement templates.
- Identify risks related to data quality, misrouted leads, poor follow-ups, and unauthorized commercial decisions.
Risk Assessment & Reporting
- Conduct interviews and workshops to compare “as-is” practices against documented policies and procedures.
- Perform root-cause analysis and risk assessment for identified audit observations.
- Prepare structured audit reports outlining findings, risk impact, compliance gaps, and prioritized recommendations.
- Present audit outcomes to leadership, align on corrective action plans, and monitor implementation and re-audit progress.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance Monitoring
- Support creation and enhancement of SOPs, audit checklists, governance dashboards, and compliance trackers.
- Periodically benchmark internal marketing and sales processes against industry best practices.
- Ensure ongoing audit readiness and process standardization across teams.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in auditing marketing and sales processes, internal controls, and governance frameworks.
- Deep understanding of B2B/B2C marketing funnels, sales cycles, and performance metrics.
- Experience in internal audit, process audit, quality management, or process excellence (Six Sigma/ISO preferred).
- Hands-on exposure to CRM platforms and marketing automation tools.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills with ability to detect risks and control gaps.
- Excellent audit documentation, report writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, maintain integrity, and drive closure of audit findings with stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Graduate in Marketing, Business Administration, Commerce, or related field.
- MBA/PGDM in Marketing or Operations preferred.
- 4–8 years of experience in marketing operations, sales operations, internal audit, or process excellence roles.
- Certifications such as CIA, Six Sigma, ISO, or related audit/process certifications are an added advantage
