MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Marketing & Communications Director is a critical position for our organization providing oversight and guidance to ensure all marketing initiatives are consistent with the YMCA's identity as a cause driven organization, focusing on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the President & CEO, the position will work with financial development, programs, membership and other staff to develop and implement all branded materials for the association, including print, social media, video, email and website content. Responsibilities will also include identifying opportunities to increase donor engagement and program participation through print and digital tactics and storytelling. In addition, the Marketing & Communications Director will lead marketing campaigns, public relations and positioning, and aid in association's work in advancing the culture of One Y.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF A MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR:- Develops, directs and implements a strategic communications plan to advance the association's core business, philanthropic efforts, goals, the YMCA mission, cause and brand.
- Oversees the production of all communications materials, including writing and editing content, procuring stories, and proofing designs. Is responsible for effective content and timely, accurate delivery of all materials.
- Develops, implements, and maintains content services that support engagement strategies across multiple media channels (web, social media, search engine) using digital analysis and business data to make recommendations for continual process and content improvement.
- Creates strategies to expand visibility, increase donor engagement and grow program participation across all media platforms.
- Acts as chief write and editor. Gathers content, captures stories, writes and publishes print and digital communications including newsletters, constituent group email newsletters, press releases, presentation scripts and talking points.
- Maintains an awareness of and monitors trends, technology development and new options that may have the potential of advancing the association's communications efforts.
- Is responsible for coordinating the production and mailing of all printed materials with print company/mailing house.
- Serves as the website administrator in monitoring, maintaining, and updating website content.
- Is responsible for managing the communications budget, including print materials and online marketing in consultation with the President & CEO.
- Is responsible for overseeing the production and development of all videography and photography supporting the association's messaging and brand.
- Ensures all print and digital media are in compliance with the YMCA of Southern Arizona's media guidelines, communication strategies and Y brand graphic standards.
- Provides communications support for special events and projects as needed.
- Ensures the safety and well-being of consumers by maintaining professional boundaries, completing required abuse risk management training, following procedures for high-risk activities and supervision, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations, and adhering to mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Adheres to all YMCA of Southern Arizona policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS OF A MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR:- At least twenty-one (21) years of age
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field AND/OR minimum five (5) years of professional experience in communications along with a strong understanding of public relations and brand management. Minimum High School diploma or GED required.
- Previous YMCA experience or connection with YMCA preferred
- Demonstrated extensive, successful writing and editing experience across diverse print and digital media platforms
- Exceptional editing and verbal communication skills
- Strong project management skills and the ability to effectively coordinate and lead the involvement of other team members
- Ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects, meet production deadlines and adapt to a fast paced environment
- Well-versed in industry trends and Y graphic standards; working knowledge of print industry
- High level of professionalism, initiative, creativity, and problem solving
- Advanced computer skills and the ability to learn new software and online content management systems are critical
- Positive attitude and the ability to work with and create a strong team environment
- Certifications required within thirty (30) days of hire: CPR/AED and First Aid for Adults, Children and Infants
- Completion of assigned YMCA's online training upon date of hire and periodically thereafter
