Marketing Communications Manager

Position Summary

Greenwich United Way (GUW) is seeking a proactive and creative Marketing & Communications Manager with 3+ years of professional experience to support and elevate the organization's brand visibility, fundraising initiatives, and community presence. This role plays a key part in executing marketing strategies, managing media outreach, and telling the story of GUW's community impact across multiple platforms.

At Greenwich United Way, we mobilize the caring power of our community to improve lives. From expanding access to early childhood education to supporting mental health services and promoting financial stability, we drive lasting change. The Marketing & Communications Manager will help share this mission by creating compelling content and campaigns that inspire engagement, increase awareness, and highlight the difference GUW makes every day.

This new position will work collaboratively across the GUW team and report to the Vice President of Fund Development & Operations.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and implement multi-channel marketing campaigns (email, web, print, social)
  • Create and manage content for newsletters, fundraising appeals, program promotions, and internal communications
  • Oversee GUW's website and ensure it remains current, engaging, and aligned with brand messaging
  • Build and maintain a social media calendar across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), producing original and shareable content

Public Relations

  • Engage and manage relationships with social media influencers within the Fairfield County/Metro NY area
  • Write and distribute press releases for events, initiatives, grants, and key organizational milestones
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local media, community outlets, and partners
  • Serve as a liaison to the press at events and manage media coverage and outreach logistics
  • Monitor media mentions and track PR coverage metrics to evaluate outreach effectiveness

Event Support

  • Collaborate with the team to design and execute marketing strategies for major events
  • Produce branded event materials including invitations, signage, and digital collateral
  • Support on-site event logistics and media coordination

Fundraising & Development Support

  • Work with the development team to align donor communications with marketing efforts
  • Assist in developing stewardship materials, annual appeals, and campaign collateral
  • Support storytelling and impact reporting for grants and donor relations

Success Metrics

  • Generate consistent, positive media coverage for Greenwich United Way
  • Increase donor and community engagement across digital and traditional platforms
  • Drive strong turnout and participation in campaigns and events
  • Strengthen brand awareness and alignment with the organization's mission

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in marketing, PR, or communications, ideally in a nonprofit or mission-driven setting
  • Strong writing and editing skills, particularly in drafting press releases and marketing copy
  • Proficiency in Constant Contact (or similar email platforms), Canva, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media management tools
  • Experience with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress) and familiarity with basic SEO principles
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small, agile team

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with local press and building media lists
  • Familiarity with donor databases or CRM platforms (e.g., Raiser's Edge)
  • Basic photography and/or video editing skills
  • Understanding of metrics and reporting using tools like Google Analytics or Meta Insights

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
