We are seeking a creative and highly organized Communications Specialist to join our growing marketing and communications team. This role will focus primarily on storytelling and content development for Rocky Vista University (RVU), while also supporting cross-brand content needs for other institutions within the Medforth Global Healthcare Education network, including St. George’s University (SGU).

Reporting to the Communication Manager, the Communication Specialist will help bring the SGU and Medforth brand stories to life through blog posts, student and alumni profiles, editorial features, newsletters, and more. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including communications, marketing, creative, recruitment, and admissions, to ensure content is aligned with key campaigns, optimized for audience engagement, and consistent in tone and voice.

This role is ideal for a strong writer and editor with a passion for higher education, healthcare, and storytelling that inspires prospective students and builds brand credibility.

Essential Functions

Content Development & Storytelling

  • Research, write, and edit original content for RVU’s and SGU’s blog, editorials, newsletters, and print collateral.
  • Develop alumni features, alumni profiles, testimonials, student spotlights, faculty stories, and academic highlights that support brand visibility and enrollment goals.
  • Support the creation of cross-brand editorial content, including for RVU and other Medforth entities, as needed.

Editorial & Campaign Support

  • Work with the Communication Manager to align content with campaign objectives and student journeys.
  • Translate marketing briefs into actionable content deliverables—tailoring tone, voice, and format to meet specific platform needs.

Collaboration & Content Operations

  • Collaborate with creative, marketing, and communications to ensure content is visually engaging, optimized, and consistent across platforms.
  • Contribute to the planning and upkeep of the editorial content calendar in coordination with brand and communications teams.
  • Conduct interviews with internal stakeholders, students, and alumni to develop authentic, human-centered narratives.

Content Optimization & Repurposing

  • Help repurpose long-form stories into shorter assets (social posts, web snippets, ads) to maximize distribution.
  • Work with SEO and web teams to incorporate keywords, metadata, and other best practices into content pieces.
  • Support content testing and performance reviews to inform future creative strategy.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an adaptable voice and tone.
  • Strong storytelling instincts, with an ability to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging content.
  • Experience creating content for multiple formats and platforms: blogs, Press releases, newsletters, and editorial.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress), email platforms (e.g., Mailchimp), and basic SEO practices.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in content marketing, journalism, copywriting, or related fields; higher education or healthcare experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or related field.
