We're seeking an experienced Senior Lead Developer Manager with at least 5 years of hands-on expertise to oversee WordPress development, manage teams, and drive the optimization of complex web projects.
Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Lead Developer Manager proficient in PHP and WordPress, with a proven track record in custom theme and plugin development. In this senior leadership role, you'll architect scalable technical solutions, manage development workflows, lead and mentor a team of developers, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-performance, secure, and user-centric websites that support our marketing and branding objectives. The position requires working 8 hours per day on-site, from 9 am to 5 pm, with a 30-minute paid lunch break during work hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, development, and customization of advanced WordPress themes and plugins, including from-scratch builds and integrations with frameworks like Elementor
- Oversee implementation of complex features such as e-commerce systems (e.g., WooCommerce), API integrations, and third-party services (e.g., payment gateways, CRMs).
- Drive optimization of site performance, security, and scalability through techniques like caching, database tuning, and adherence to industry best practices.
- Diagnose and resolve intricate bugs, ensuring cross-browser and cross-device compatibility.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables, coordinating with designers, stakeholders, and other teams to translate business requirements into robust, functional websites.
- Monitor WordPress core updates, emerging technologies, and potential security threats, while developing strategic roadmaps for web initiatives and technology adoption.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop junior developers; conduct performance reviews, foster team knowledge-sharing, and lead technical training sessions to enhance team capabilities.
- Budget and resource planning for development projects, including vendor management and tool selection.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in WordPress development, with a focus on complex projects and at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/jQuery, and MySQL.
- Deep understanding of WordPress architecture, including custom post types, taxonomies, actions/filters, and the REST API.
- Expertise in responsive design, ensuring seamless performance across devices.
- Solid knowledge of web security principles (e.g., preventing SQL injection, XSS) and SEO optimization.
- Proven leadership experience, including team management, project oversight, and stakeholder communication.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with e-commerce platforms like WooCommerce or headless CMS setups.
- Portfolio showcasing advanced WordPress projects and custom development.
- Familiarity with front-end tools like Bootstrap, Tailwind CSS, or build processes (e.g., Webpack, Composer).
- Certifications in web development, project management (e.g., PMP), or leadership training.
- Background in marketing or branding industries.
