Marketing Manager

About Us

Chart House Waikiki is an iconic waterfront dining destination known for premium steak, fresh seafood, and a vibrant atmosphere overlooking the Ala Wai Harbor. We serve both a global tourist audience and a loyal local community, creating an experience that blends elevated dining with the energy of Waikiki.

We’re looking for an experienced Marketing Manager to own and drive our growth—someone who understands that great restaurant marketing is about filling tables, building repeat customers, and creating a brand people talk about.

Role Overview

This is a hands-on, revenue-focused role responsible for driving reservations, increasing foot traffic, and building long-term brand equity.

You will lead all marketing efforts across digital, social, partnerships, and in-restaurant programming—acting as both a strategist and executor.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Reservations & Revenue
  • Own strategies to increase covers, especially during off-peak days/times
  • Optimize presence across:
  • Google (search + maps)
  • OpenTable / Resy
  • Website conversion flow
  • Launch targeted campaigns to drive bookings (locals + tourists)
  • Content & Social Media (IG + TikTok Focus)
  • Plan and execute 3–5 posts per week (Reels-first strategy)
  • Capture in-restaurant content regularly (food, ambiance, live moments)
  • Develop content pillars:
  • Signature dishes & drinks
  • Atmosphere / experience
  • “Why come tonight” moments
  • Stay on top of trends while maintaining brand voice
  • Local Partnerships & Influencer Strategy
  • Build relationships with:
  • Hotel concierges & hospitality groups
  • Local businesses and luxury partners
  • Waikiki-based influencers and creators
  • Execute targeted influencer visits (not mass gifting)
  • Develop referral channels that consistently drive bookings
  • Events & Programming
  • Concept and execute:
  • Weekly/monthly programming (live music, themed nights, etc.)
  • Seasonal promotions and menu launches
  • Local-focused initiatives (kamaʻāina nights, industry nights)
  • Ensure events translate into real traffic and revenue
  • Paid Media & Growth Marketing
  • Manage or oversee:
  • Meta (Instagram/Facebook) ads
  • Google Search campaigns (high-intent dining queries)
  • Allocate budget strategically to drive ROI
  • Test and iterate campaigns based on performance
  • Reputation & Review Management
  • Monitor and respond to reviews on:
  • Google
  • Yelp
  • Implement strategies to increase positive reviews
  • Turn guest satisfaction into public social proof
  • Email & SMS Marketing
  • Build and manage customer database
  • Execute campaigns for:
  • Promotions
  • Events
  • Seasonal pushes
  • Drive repeat visits from past customers

Qualifications:

  • 3–6+ years of experience in restaurant, hospitality, or nightlife marketing
  • Proven ability to drive measurable revenue results (not just engagement)
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Social media (IG/TikTok)
  • Local marketing + partnerships
  • Reservation platforms (OpenTable, Resy, etc.)
  • Highly organized, detailed oriented, proactive, and able to execute independently
  • Experience marketing in tourist-driven markets (Hawaii, Miami, Vegas, etc.)
  • Existing network in Honolulu / Waikiki hospitality scene
  • Experience running paid media campaigns or managing a paid agency
  • Basic photography/video skills (iPhone-level is fine, but must have an eye)
  • Must live locally and work on site in office at least 3 days per week
  • Must be available to come to night events when needed to capture content
  • Graphic design skills a plus but not required

The first Chart House was opened in Aspen, Colorado in 1961 by Joey Cabell and his partner Buzzy Bent. Joey and Buzzy opened their second restaurant in Newport Beach, California in 1963. In February 1968, Joey opened the Chart House Waikiki as the sole owner. He subsequently sold his interest in the mainland stores, retaining only the land and building of the Aspen site.
This restaurant was nearly destroyed in December 1975, by a fire that swept the building. The management and employees worked for one year to rebuild the Chart House and reopen in 1976.
In August 2020, the Chart House temporarily closed due to COVID. Joey has persevered once more to reopen again in April 2021 for the 53rd year, this time with a new strong partnership.
We have for many years been friends with and worked together with the owners, management, and employees of the “Chart House Chain”, as it has come to be called. However, we are the only independent store and were, of course, the original Chart House in Hawaii.
We pride ourselves on being the original and being owned by the man who created the Chart House concept. We certainly hope that as a new Chart House employee, you too will be proud of the establishment for which you now work. We look forward to having you with us for a long time!
