Job Description

The Marketing Manager will contribute substantially to ISU’s marketing strategic plan by overseeing marketing initiatives for key units including the Graduate School, University Libraries, Academic Affairs and other units as needed. The Marketing Manager will work closely with these units to create and execute a multi-faceted and cohesive marketing strategy for unit priorities with a focus on campaign planning, execution, data analysis, event and resource promotion, web design and maintenance, social media, graphic design, writing and content creation. This position supports enrollment growth in graduate programs, and student success while promoting programs and initiatives within these units.

This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.

Key Responsibilities


  • Continuously review, update and implement unit marketing strategic plan - prioritize planning and implementation, development and tracking of program success metrics.
  • Develop and manage annual marketing budget, track expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Using University design tools and templates, develop marketing assets and materials to achieve objectives.
  • Coordinate visual assets (photo and video) for print and electronic media ad campaigns, event promotion and public relations.
  • Serve as an ISU brand ambassador, ensuring all promotional items and ad campaigns adhere to University guidelines.
  • Support marketing and promotion of large events such as: Three Minute Thesis, Research and Creative Works Symposium and Late Nights with the Graduate School events.
  • Position requires availability for occasional travel, after-hours and weekend events

Graduate School
Utilize market research and data analytics to supplement college and program-level efforts to grow enrollment in strategic graduate programs through the use of social, digital and traditional media tactics, along with ad placement in targeted marketing channels; develop marketing assets; coordinate with college marketing professionals to strategically promote graduate programs; develop and present reports that share research, campaign performance, and tactic effectiveness.


Academic Affairs

Support student success and faculty professional development by working with Academic Affairs leadership to promote resources and services available to students, faculty and staff, such as the Bengal Success Center and the Center for Learning and Instructional Excellence.

Support faculty recognition initiatives such as Distinguished Faculty Awards by creating compelling copy and visual content to be shared with internal and external stakeholders


University Libraries

Boost engagement and encourage utilization of library resources among students, faculty and staff by promoting available services applicable for target audiences and campus locations.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a minimum six years combined education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • At least two (2) years experience developing and implementing marketing campaigns informed by market research for a variety of target audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently on complex projects in high-throughput, timeline-focused work environments, often with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in business, marketing or relevant field.
  • Professional experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with graphic design and photo editing.

Additional Information

Salary will be between $53,000 and $60,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
