Job Description: Material Handler

Position Title: Material Handler
Department: Operations
Reporting To: Procurement Manager

Role Overview:

The Material Handler is responsible for efficiently managing the movement, storage, and handling of materials, equipment, and supplies within the sports club. This role includes receiving, organizing, and delivering items to ensure smooth operations for matches, training sessions, and events. The Material Handler also ensures that inventory is handled safely and stored appropriately.

Key Responsibilities:

Material Handling and Movement:

• Load, unload, and move materials, equipment, and supplies within the warehouse and to designated areas.
  
• Transport items between storage facilities, training grounds, and event locations as required.
  
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment to handle heavy loads when necessary.
  

Receiving and Shipping:

• Assist in receiving deliveries by inspecting items for damage and verifying quantities against invoices.
  
• Prepare materials for shipping, ensuring they are properly packed and labeled.
  
• Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  

Inventory Support:

• Organize and store materials in designated areas for easy access and efficient retrieval.
  
• Conduct regular stock checks and assist with inventory audits.
  
• Notify the Warehouse Supervisor of low stock levels or discrepancies.
  

Equipment and Supplies Distribution:

• Ensure timely delivery of sports equipment, uniforms, and supplies to relevant departments.
  
• Assist with setting up materials for matches, training sessions, and events.
  
• Track issued items and ensure their return to the warehouse when appropriate.
  

Safety and Maintenance:

• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures while handling materials.
  
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring walkways and storage areas are free of hazards.
  
• Report damaged or unsafe equipment and materials to the Warehouse Supervisor.
  

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with the logistics team to ensure materials are available when needed.
  
• Communicate effectively with team members regarding material requests and delivery schedules.
  
  
  
  
  
  

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
  

Experience:

• 1+ years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or a related role.
  
• Experience in sports or event-driven industries is a plus.
  

Technical Skills:

• Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks (certification preferred).
  
• Basic computer skills to update inventory records.
  

Soft Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
  

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
  
• Comfortable standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
