The Material Planner will play a critical role in managing and optimizing material flow to support the company’s marine and offshore operations. This position focuses on maintaining accurate inventory levels, forecasting material requirements, and ensuring the timely delivery of equipment and consumables critical to vessel, rig, and onshore base operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in marine logistics, offshore procurement coordination, and knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and inventory planning systems.
Develop and manage material planning strategies specifically designed for marine and offshore operations, ensuring operational readiness for fleet and project activities.
Forecast material demand based on maintenance schedules, vessel dry-docking, and project load-out plans.
Proactively monitor inventory turnover, consumption trends, and safety stock to maintain optimal supply levels and minimize material shortages or overstock.
Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and technical teams to coordinate sourcing, shipping, and delivery of parts and materials in line with vessel movement and offshore schedules.
Utilize material planning systems to generate and adjust purchase requisitions, ensuring on-time supply while controlling costs.
Analyze supply chain data to identify efficiency improvements, cost savings, and potential risks affecting offshore supply continuity.
Maintain documentation for all materials, including material codes, technical specifications, shelf-life monitoring, and vendor correspondence.
Enforce strict adherence to marine and offshore quality, HSE, and regulatory standards when managing materials.
Resolve material-related issues such as late deliveries, non-conformance reports, or quality disputes through effective communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Marine Engineering, Logistics, or a related discipline.
Proven experience as a Material Planner, Logistics Coordinator, or Inventory Controller within the marine, offshore, or oil & gas sectors.
Hands-on experience using demand forecasting tools (such as SAP MRP, Oracle SCM Cloud, or Demand Solutions).
Practical knowledge of inventory management software (e.g., Maximo, AMOS, or ShipNet) used in marine and offshore environments.
Strong understanding of material management principles such as inventory turnover, minimum/maximum levels, reorder points, aged stock control, safety stock calibration, and ABC analysis.
Familiarity with marine supply chain operations, including import/export documentation, customs clearance, and offshore logistics practices.
In-depth knowledge of marine industry standards and classification requirements applicable to materials, components, and consumables.
Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to forecast, plan, and coordinate across multiple marine operations simultaneously.
Ability to manage complex material demands and troubleshoot challenges under dynamic offshore and port-based conditions.
Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills for dealing with suppliers, shipping agents, and vessel superintendents.
