POSITION SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of duties in the support, development and maintenance of computerized inventory control systems to track status of inventory levels, production requirements, procurement, physical locations, maintaining status and records of shipments, warehoused equipment, spare parts, and production material.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Takes supply orders from personnel and creates supply requisitions and submits to management for approval. Updates inventory control system for parts ordered and tracks orders.
2. Obtains quotes from vendors and prepare and process purchase requisitions, bills, and supporting documentation.
3. Collect records such as purchase orders, bills, costing and inventory records and charge to contract job order. Maintains accurate files by reviewing, coding, sorting, and recording files documents received.
4. Tracks material orders in computer system and updates budget records. Assists in monitoring assigned budgets by gathering appropriate reports, records and data, and totaling expenditures.
5. Verifies quantity, part type and number of received parts off vendor documentation. Reports any discrepancies such as overages, shortages and damages.
6. Notifies personnel of orders upon receipt and keeps personnel informed on the status of orders. Reviews production schedules and follows up with vendors to ensure timely receipt of materials ordered.
7. Conducts research using the computer system to assist personnel in identifying required materials.
8. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, finger, and grasp materials.
9. Performs other related administrative duties such as retrieving and storing office supplies, photocopying, collating and assembling documents and so forth as requested.
10. Provides training and may delegate task to Material Specialist I position.
All of the above essential functions require the ability to be mobile in an industrial environment, to communicate effectively, organize effectively, with varying degrees of independence, judgment, and discretion.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Requires high school diploma and 5 years related experience working in a warehouse environment utilizing stock numbers, and a location supply system.
2. Demonstrated ability in computer literacy especially in the use of database, spreadsheets and data entry skills.
3. Requires excellent reasoning and communication skills necessary to gain in depth understanding of TRANDES policies and programs.
4. Requires good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of employees and clients/customers, and to be socially perceptive in accepting and relaying confidential and sensitive information.
5. Requires ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail while typing and proofing materials and preparing data and reports.
6. Requires excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
7. Familiarity with Fedlog preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office products including Word, Excel and Access preferred
