As the Director of Materials at GE Appliances’ AP5 plant, you will lead the materials management function across multiple shifts, driving performance, innovation, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the right materials are in the right place at the right time—supporting world-class operations and delivering for our customers.

How You'll Create Possibilities
  • Lead the plant Materials Management function, overseeing a team of materials professionals and supervisors across multiple shifts.
  • Drive improvement programs to maximize performance and meet business priorities.
  • Monitor inventory levels monthly and quarterly, coordinating with product management and sales to achieve targets.
  • Implement continuous improvement programs using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Manage inventory processes to reduce stock levels and increase inventory turns.
  • Develop strategic inventory plans that balance business commitments with customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with Operations, ERP, and Lean teams to resolve materials-related issues and enhance process accuracy.
  • Review and calculate ABC classifications, safety stock, and economic order quantities.
  • Oversee working capital reviews for inventory and maintain ongoing inventory reduction projects.
  • Manage multiple priorities independently and influence organizational culture and supply chain programs, including virtual collaboration.
  • Ensure implementation and documentation of company-required tools, programs, and management systems.
  • Complete all required reports with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Benchmark and share best practices across GE Appliances.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or other relevant fields.
  • 10+ years’ experience working within a manufacturing environment, including prior experience leading work teams.
  • 5+ years’ materials management experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Proven systems experience and capabilities, including MRP/ERP systems and MS Word/Excel.
Preferred:
  • Strong planning and forecasting abilities, including experience with production control, master scheduling, and Lean initiatives.
  • Skilled in systematic problem-solving and data analysis.
  • Drive factory flow initiatives removing waste from the production line and reducing total cost/unit
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, able to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Proven change management experience and successful implementation of new processes.
  • Knowledge and application of WCM(World Class Manufacturing) LCS(Logistics & Customer Service) methodology a plus
  • Customer-focused, energetic, and proactive in addressing issues.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks effectively.
  • Experience in supplier management and project execution.
  • Up to date with technology and developments in supply chain management.
  • APICS and Six Sigma certifications are preferred.
Working Conditions:
  • Working conditions are normal for both an office and manufacturing environment.
  • Work may involve transferring materials and products up to 30 pounds.
  • Working in the manufacturing environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not be limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, work shoes/boots.
  • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
