Orthopedic Specialists of SW Florida’s state-of-the-art, 60,000 square-foot facility incorporates the latest in leading-edge technology in order to provide optimal care for patients who have bone, joint, muscle and spine problems. Our office includes a full Physical Therapy and Occupational/Hand Therapy division, which work in close coordination with our physicians to provide non-operative, preoperative, post-operative and preventive care.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Oversight:
- Supervise all aspects of the Visco, DME, and Casting programs, including staffing, workflow, patient scheduling, and inventory control.
- Ensure timely and accurate ordering, stocking, and tracking of DME, casting supplies, and injection materials.
- Oversee casting services to ensure proper application, maintenance, and removal techniques are followed according to physician orders and orthopedic standards.
- Monitor utilization and compliance with payer requirements, including proper documentation and billing for all ancillary services.
- Ensure patients receive proper education on the use and care of DME, casts, and injection aftercare.
- Negotiation of contracts with vendors.
Leadership & Team Management:
- Hire, train, and supervise ancillary staff including DME technicians, casting techs, and any necessary injection support staff.
- Develop and implement inventory control systems to minimize stockouts; streamline processes for inventory.
- Develop and maintain staff competencies through ongoing education and skills evaluations, particularly in casting techniques and safety.
- Provide leadership through coaching, performance evaluations, and schedule management.
- Foster a collaborative, patient-centered team environment focused on quality and efficiency.
Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Maintain knowledge of relevant regulations and payer policies related to DME, casting, and injectable services (e.g., CMS, OSHA, HIPAA).
- Ensure that all services are delivered in compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Audit patient charts and documentation to ensure support for medical necessity and appropriate coding.
- Promote a culture of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism within casting and ancillary service areas.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards in purchasing, storage, and distribution of medical products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, allied health, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a medical practice, preferably orthopedic or musculoskeletal.
- Previous experience managing ancillary services including DME, casting, or injection programs strongly preferred.
- Certification in casting (or ability to obtain) is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of payer policies, DMEPOS billing, casting protocols, and injection coding (e.g., CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), EMR systems, documents management systems, and inventory management software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in EMR and practice management systems.
