Job Description:


Kratos Microwave, Inc., a Kratos' company, is looking for a Materials Planner, Senior Supervisor to work onsite at their San Jose location.

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Manages the planning, scheduling and movement of material through the production cycle. Oversees material requirements from production and engineering.. Manages the development of specifications for new contract orders. Responsible for creating and executing production schedules and coordinating activities within the organization to ensure due dates are both reasonable and met on time. Coordinates with procurement and manufacturing teams to ensure material, resources and capacity are available to support customer demand and organizational objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Receives assignments based on incremental objectives and defined processes.
  • Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance.
  • Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees.
  • Recommends changes to sub-unit, unit or focus policies.
  • Takes actions to monitor and manage costs related to a department.
  • Works closely with Operations, Engineering, Sales, Program Management, and Quality to create production schedules that meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Develops purchasing strategies and delivery timelines for purchased items
  • Monitors material transactions and variances to ensure MRP system inventory accuracy
  • Develops and manages key performance metrics to monitor and improve performance
  • Experienced understanding of business line and a basic understanding of the overall company.
  • Works on issues requiring the analysis of data, relevant factors and resolves problems.
  • Exercises judgment and interpretation to help define procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.
  • Develops and manages routine operational plans.
  • Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will cause delays in schedules.
  • Meets targets typically against a monthly plan.
  • Interacts with subordinate supervisors and functional peer groups.
  • Interaction requires interpreting and explaining information to audiences familiar with the subject.
  • Gains cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or programs.
  • Provides direct supervision to professional individual contributors and/or skilled, support individual contributors (e.g., technicians, lab assistants, designers, support personnel).
  • Acts as guide to unit or sub-units and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems.
  • Provides input and contributes to managing costs related to a unit or subunit.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has direct supervisory responsibilities.

  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance, if needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience; or equivalent work experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Office and open cubical environment.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, mouse, phones).
