What You Will Do
The SCL-3 Production Supply Chain group is seeking a highly organized, self-motivated, and customer-focused Materials Status Specialist responsible for tracking materials and ensuring the accuracy and quality of procurement data. The selected candidate will work with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to track and expedite production and facility-related equipment and materials and perform quality reviews across team databases. This role is critical to meeting production and maintenance milestones. The selected Materials Status Specialist will also ensure safety and security compliance, adhere to manufacturing and procurement policies, evaluate industry practices and regulatory changes to recommend solutions, apply production and inventory control principles and tools, perform work under limited direction, and foster a respectful work environment.
What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:Functionality- Demonstrated expertise in adhering to industry practices, policies, and procedures related to procurement, production, and quality.

Skilled in coordinating with customers, project schedules, and purchasing functions to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services.

Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in preparing reports for stakeholders by analyzing procurement and inventory databases and related documentation.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to review large volumes of data, perform accuracy checks, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
Computing/Business Systems
Strong computer skills with demonstrated experience using inventory control and material tracking systems, as well as proficiency in software applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access) and other relevant tools.
Customer Service
Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to provide clear, concise guidance in high-pressure situations. Experience in interacting professionally with all levels of personnel, including external stakeholders and executive management, and willing to assist with urgent requests, including picking up materials from vendors as needed.
Communication
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey findings, provide recommendations, and collaborate with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to support procurement, inventory, and operational objectives.
Organizational Skills
High attention to detail with strong organizational, analytical, observational, and problem-solving skills, ensuring accuracy in all tasks. Proven ability to multi-task and adapt effectively within a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
Education/Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, inventory control, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience directly supporting production and materials management.
Desired Qualifications:- Experience purchasing materials in a nuclear facility or other highly regulated environment.

Experience preparing, reviewing, and analyzing technical information.

Experience tracking and expediting purchased materials while providing regular status updates.

Knowledge of ISO and/or NQA-1 quality standards.

Active DOE Q clearance.
Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional DetailsDirective 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
- Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
