Materials Supervisor

General Expectations:

Oversees designated operations area within site, coordinating associates and their activities for the site’s work segment. Typically provides direction and support in the areas of receiving, stocking, pulling, loading, and delivery of designated materials. Also responsible for updating company software to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely securing of sales and inventory data.

  • Administers yard and warehouse operations and ensures compliance to safety policies.
  • Maintains neatness and organization of yard and warehouse.
  • Develop and train staff to achieve all work objectives and participates in evaluating performance on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for material receipts, ensuring paperwork and software procedures are followed properly.
  • Ensures proper use and storage of materials.
  • Monitors inventory of supplies and follows processes to replenish as needed.
  • Coordinates and monitors loading of materials to ensure efficiency and safety of team members.
  • Coordinates with other departments to investigate accidents and identify root causes of injuries and damage.

Specific Duties:

  • Coordinates yard and warehouse associates’ activities with driver’s dispatch plans.
  • Responsible for verifying shipments are filled accurately in order to meet customer expectations.
  • Manage required paperwork and software tasks related to materials and inventory movements, including receipts and internal manufacturing usage.
  • Responsible for conducting daily cycle counts, ensuring inventory quantities in software system are correct and assisting in determining causes for inventory discrepancies.
  • Coordinates receipt, inspection, and disposition of materials returned from job sites.
  • Responsible for recording, reporting, and entering damaged and / or obsolete inventory materials into software system.
  • Maintains updated warehouse and yard layouts, including bin / yard locations within software system.

Requirements:

  • Strong math skills and attention to detail are vital in the successful candidate.
  • Able speak and write clearly and professionally.
  • Familiar and comfortable with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems preferred, especially Epicor’s Bistrack.
  • Prior experience working with lumber and residential construction materials preferred.
  • Able to work both independently as well as within a team.
  • Prior experience supervising and directing others preferred.
  • Capable of lifting objects which are at least 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
