Math Tutor

Duties

• MUST be comfortable tutoring math
• Deliver tailored one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in all subject areas, with an emphasis on Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2
• Develop customized lesson plans and curriculum materials that align with students’ individual learning needs and educational standards.
• Utilize innovative learning technology tools to enhance understanding and engagement during lessons.
• Assess student progress regularly through quizzes, assignments, and informal evaluations; adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Collaborate with educators and parents to support student success and address specific learning challenges or special education needs.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress reports, and lesson plans for ongoing evaluation and reporting purposes.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree required
• Teaching Certification preffered
• Proven experience in tutoring or teaching mathematics at various levels; classroom experience is highly valued.
• Background in STEM disciplines preffered.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with children and adult learners from diverse backgrounds.
• Proficiency with computer skills and educational technology platforms used for remote or hybrid instruction.
• Familiarity with working with students who have special education needs or require early childhood education support.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching methods for different age groups and learning styles; preschool experience or working with young children is a plus.

Pay Scale

• Training is 2 weeks, about 20 hours total and is completed virtually, paid at a rate of $16/hr.
• Post training pay jumps to $24 an hour for 30 days
• After 30 days, we complete a performance evaluation and your pay will be adjusted again, not to exceed $30 an hour for 1-on-1 and $45 an hour for small group/ workshops
• Every 60 days performance evaluations are completed and performance bonuses will be issued in lieu of pay raises
• Travel stipend for days we require you to work in person

Schedule Requirements

• This position requires working in person in downtown Sarasota at our office at least one day a week (Ideally Wednesdays but would love if you can also offer Mondays)
• This position requires working from home in a quite environment to support students virtually

Pay: $25.20 - $30.00 per hour
