Position Title McKinney-Vento Summer Tutor Lead Teacher

Salary $40.00 hour

FLSA Status Non-Exempt

Reports to McKinney-Vento Liaison/ Classroom Teacher

Work Week Schedule Monday - Thursday

Work Hours 20-32 hours weekly

Number of Months Per Year 2

Position Purpose

The lead teacher offers oversight to the summer tutors and provides additional academic
support to students K-6 in ELA, math, social emotional learning, and/or specials.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

General knowledge of teacher activities, routine and schedule.
General knowledge of student handbook.
Ability to order and maintain order and discipline in the classroom.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction.

Education, Training, and Experience

Valid educator's license through NC Department of Public Instruction
Experience as an advocate for children and families
Experience Working with children

Preferred Qualifications

Tutoring/teaching experience

Leadership experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide academic assistance to assigned students

Help students develop self-confidence, raise self-concept and reduce anxiety or fear of failure in academic work.

Establish and maintain positive rapport with students.

Serve as a role model.
