Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented MDS Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate assessment and documentation of patient care, while adhering to regulatory standards. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding, and patient care processes within a healthcare setting, particularly in a Level I Trauma Center. The MDS Coordinator will collaborate with various departments to facilitate quality patient outcomes and compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients to ensure accurate documentation and coding in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform utilization reviews to evaluate the necessity and efficiency of patient care services.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to gather relevant patient information for assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and data security.
  • Utilize PCC software for documentation, coding, and tracking of patient information.
  • Maintain knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) classifications to support accurate billing and reimbursement processes.
  • Provide education and training to staff on MDS processes, medical terminology, and coding practices.
  • Stay updated on changes in regulations related to MDS assessments and coding requirements.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding practices.
  • Experience in utilization review or similar roles within a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with DRG classifications and their application in patient care documentation.
  • Proficient in using electronic health record systems, particularly Epic.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33.00 - $40.00 per hour
