The MDT Facilitator/ Forensic Interviewer plays a dual role, primarily responsible for coordinating a collaborative multidisciplinary team (MDT) response to ensure a unified, child-centered approach. In addition, the position serves as a Forensic Interviewer, conducting trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate forensic interviews with children involved in abuse investigations. This role is critical in reducing system-induced trauma, enhancing interagency communication, and ensuring children and families receive timely, coordinated services throughout the investigation and intervention process.
Key Responsibilities of MDT Facilitator:
- Develop and manage MDT case review agendas for each assigned county, ensuring all eligible cases are captured and prepared for review in accordance with written protocols and NCA standards.
- Coordinate and communicate case review schedules, ensuring timely distribution of agendas, meeting links or locations, and case materials to all MDT partners.
- Facilitate case review meetings using a trauma-informed, child-centered approach that encourages collaboration, accountability, and equal voice from all participating disciplines.
- Ensure consistent participation from law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical, and victim advocacy representatives as part of a compliant MDT structure.
- Document meeting outcomes clearly and thoroughly, including follow-up actions, assigned responsobilites, and service linkage efforts for each child and family.
- Maintain accurate and current records of MDT personnel, agency assignments, and contact information; ensure partners are kept informed of updates relevant to case coordination.
- Strengthening interagency collaboration by building professional relationships with all MDT members, fostering mutual respect, and promoting a unified response to child abuse.
- Mediate and address MDT conflicts or misunderstandings constructively, serving as a neutral facilitator and maintaining the focus on child safety and case progress.
- Ensure adherence to written interagency agreements and facilitate annual review of MDT protocols and case review procedures.
- Enter and maintain complete, timely, and accurate case data in the designated client tracking system (e.g., Collaborate), supporting grant reporting, outcome measurement, and accreditation compliance.
- Serve as a liaison between Cherished Hearts CAC and external stakeholders to reinforce MDT alignment with emerging best practices and community needs.
- Participate in internal staff meetings, strategic planning efforts, and community education initiatives as requested to represent the MDT coordination perspective.
Key Responsibilities of Forensic Interviewer:
- Conduct neutral, developmentally appropriate, and legally defensible forensic interviews of children and vulnerable individuals using the ChildFirst® Mississippi protocol and other approved best practice models.
- Tailor interview strategies based on the child victim/vulnerable adult’s age, cognitive ability, trauma history, and cultural background to minimize re-traumatization and maximize information accuracy.
- Ensure each interview is conducted in a supportive, child-friendly environment that prioritizes safety, comfort, and trust.
- Prepare pre-interview plans in collaboration with MDT partners, reviewing referral information, prior disclosures, and investigative needs.
- Collaborate closely with law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors, and other MDT members before, during, and after each interview to coordinate logistics, clarify roles, and meet investigative priorities.
- Facilitate immediate post-interview debriefings with MDT participants to summarize findings, identify next steps, and promote coordinated case management.
- Participate regularly in case staffing and MDT review meetings, offering professional insights and advocating for trauma-informed responses.
- Accurately complete and enter forensic interview documentation—including interview notes, summaries, and audio/video records—into the agency’s case management and data tracking systems in a timely manner.
- Generate high-quality written forensic interview summaries that reflect factual content, non-leading techniques, and interview flow, for use by investigative and legal partners.
- Maintain meticulous and confidential records in compliance with Cherished Hearts CAC policy, legal guidelines, and applicable data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA, state law).
- Provide fact and/or expert witness testimony in criminal, family, or civil court proceedings, as required, regarding forensic interviews conducted and general forensic interviewing practices.
- Collaborate with staff and MDT team to prepare for court testimony, including interview review, documentation validation, and courtroom procedures.
- Maintain professionalism and neutrality in all legal proceedings, upholding the forensic interviewer’s role as an impartial factfinder.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or related field with a minimum of one-year post degree level experience
- A minimum of two years of experience working with child abuse victims (preferred).
- Computer skills to include, but not limited to: Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Additionally, you will be required to input data into Collaborate and Coalition Manager
- Valid Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance.
- Clear results from background checks and drug screening.
