Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanic to join our team. The Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on company-owned heavy equipment, trucks, and machinery. This role requires experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical components, and general mechanical troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently or as part of a team to ensure equipment remains operational and job sites stay productive.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy equipment and company vehicles.
- Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, brake inspections, filter replacements, and lubrication.
- Inspect equipment and vehicles for signs of wear, damage, or safety concerns, and document findings.
- Weld, fabricate, and replace damaged parts as needed.
- Ensure proper tire maintenance and replacement on trucks, trailers, and heavy machinery.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations when working on equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent hazards.
- Ensure all repairs meet DOT, OSHA, and company compliance standards.
- Properly dispose of fluids, filters, and other hazardous materials according to environmental regulations.
Recordkeeping & Job Site Support
- Maintain detailed service records, documenting repairs, parts used, and labor time.
- Communicate with supervisors and operators regarding necessary repairs and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Occasionally travel to job sites for field repairs and emergency breakdowns.
- Assist in ordering parts and maintaining an adequate inventory of commonly used components.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3+ years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in heavy equipment or diesel repair.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems on construction equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and diagnostic codes.
- Experience with welding and fabrication is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
- Ability to operate and test equipment after repairs.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in both shop and outdoor settings, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Frequent standing, kneeling, lifting (up to 75 lbs.), and use of hand and power tools.
- Exposure to grease, oil, diesel fuel, and other mechanical fluids.
- Occasional travel to job sites for on-site repairs.
