- Current Schedule: Friday – Sunday, 2:15 AM – 3:00 PM
- 36 hours worked, paid for 40 hours
- Schedule may transition later this year or 01/2027 to a 10-hour schedule: Monday – Thursday, 2:15 PM – 1:00 AM
Job Purpose
The Line Mechanic is responsible for setting up, adjusting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and plant support equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Production Equipment
- Perform line changeovers and machine setups on packaging equipment.
- Set up and adjust semi-automatic and automatic packaging machinery including:
- Fillers
- Cappers
- Coders
- Cartoners
- Labelers
- Wrappers and bundlers
- Case sealers
- Conveyors
- Rotary press equipment
- Work from manuals, drawings, diagrams, and electrical prints.
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on equipment issues.
- Fabricate or modify machine parts as needed to support production.
- Develop and build jigs or fixtures to improve packaging operations.
Shop & Fabrication Work
Operate shop equipment such as:
- Lathe
- Vertical mill
- Welder
- Manufacture or repair machine components.
Plant Equipment Maintenance
Perform mechanical and basic electrical maintenance including:
- Installation
- Overhaul
- Tear-down and rebuild
- Preventive maintenance (oiling, greasing, inspections)
- Maintain pumps, mixers, compounding equipment, and material handling systems.
Compliance & Support
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), SOPs, Lockout/Tagout procedures, Quality and Safety systems.
- Adhere to preventive maintenance schedules.
- Assist in training mechanics and helpers.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Coordinate with approved vendors for parts and service (with management authorization).
- May dispose of hazardous waste when properly trained.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one (1) year of packaging or mechanical maintenance experience.
- Working knowledge of electricity and hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Basic mathematical skills.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand and walk for 75–100% of the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally (1–2 times daily).
- Frequent use of hands and arms (shoulder, elbow, wrist, hands).
- Ability to crouch, kneel, reach overhead, and work in confined or difficult-to-access spaces.
- Ability to visually inspect equipment and hear normal operational sounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment with moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to noise, lubricants, cleaning chemicals, and industrial equipment.
- PPE required in designated areas.
