Mechanic

The Southport Mechanic Shop is seeking skilled and motivated mechanics to join our team. This role supports the reliability and performance of heavy equipment and rolling stock, including forklifts, loaders, all heavy machinery, and trucks, with a focus on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.

We are hiring at multiple levels based on experience and skillset—from entry-level mechanics looking to grow their career to highly experienced mechanics capable of independently diagnosing and repairing complex systems.

This position plays a key role in maintaining the rolling stock supporting all operations.

Starting wage depends on experience and mechanic level you qualify for.

We require at least 1 to 3 years of experience working as a mechanic or a combination of education and experience. The skills needed include high mechanical aptitude, strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems, ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, above average troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a strong work ethic and team orientation.

The Mechanic positions at Southport require the ability to:

• Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
• Frequent stand, walk, bend, and reach.
• Use manual dexterity for tools and mechanical components.
• To work in hot, cold, noisy, and industrial environments.

There are three progressive levels of mechanics at Southport, providing a newer mechanic a path to grow or providing an experienced mechanic an opportunity to become a core part of the Southport team.

This opportunity includes working on various heavy machinery such as forklifts, loaders, shovels, and Letourneau. These positions offer variety and growth with learning opportunities.
