The Estimator & Engineering Administrator is responsible for preparing accurate conceptual, budgetary, and detailed cost estimates to support sales pursuits and early project development, focused on quantity take‑offs, pricing, scope definition, and cost analysis for modular, commercial, and industrial building projects. The Estimator works closely with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to ensure estimates are complete, competitive, and aligned with operational capabilities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Estimating & Preconstruction Support

  • Prepare ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude), budgetary, and detailed estimates based on conceptual drawings, FEED‑level documents, and defined scope of work.
  • Perform quantity take‑offs for structural, architectural, MEP, and modular components.
  • Develop pricing using labor rates, production norms, material pricing, subcontractor input, and historical cost data.
  • Support Sales by providing timely and accurate estimates for proposals and project authorizations.
  • Assist in scope clarification, assumptions development, and risk identification during preconstruction.

Cost Analysis & Data Management

  • Maintain and utilize standardized estimating templates, cost models, and pricing databases.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain to obtain vendor and subcontractor pricing.
  • Incorporate plant labor‑hour rates and production efficiencies into estimates.
  • Participate in estimate reviews to validate scope, pricing, and assumptions.

Documentation & Coordination

  • Maintain organized estimate files, backup documentation, and correspondence.
  • Support transitions from preconstruction to execution by assisting with estimate handoff and scope clarification.
  • Ensure estimates align with applicable codes, modular standards, and internal design guidelines.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support continuous improvement of estimating tools, templates, and historical cost databases.
  • Provide feedback on variances between estimated and actual costs when available

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE

    • Postsecondary education in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Architectural Technology, or related discipline is required.
    • 3–5 years of experience in construction estimating, preconstruction, or cost engineering for modular, commercial, or industrial building projects.
    • Working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimating principles.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit for quantity take‑offs and design interpretation.
    • Experience with estimating software, spreadsheets, and cost databases.
    • Understanding of Labor productivity, material pricing, and subcontracted scopes.
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
