Mechanic

Job Description:
As a Mechanic at Metro Pavers Inc. you will assist in maintaining, diagnosing and repairing Hydraulic/pneumatic equipment and fleet vehicles, including, but not limited to pick-ups, dump trucks, mixers, semi tractors, trailers.
This position requires critical thinking, attention to safety, strong work ethic, reliability, ability to work independently, and attention to detail.
Job Requirements:

• Must have a basic set of mechanic tools
• Adheres to all OSHA and DOT regulations, and Metro Pavers, Inc. policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.
• Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
• Authorization to work in the United States is required. (Metro Group utilizes E-Verify)
• Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
• Must pass a background check.
• Ability to obtain a security badge at the Eastern Iowa Airport is necessary.
• 10 Hour OSHA Certification – must have or be willing to get. (The company will provide)
• Must have and maintain a valid commercial driver’s license with acceptable driving record. (Class A preferred)
• First Aid/CPR and BBP certification – must have or be willing to get. (The company will provide)
• Availability to work over 40 hours per week, including weekends if necessary for the job, is essential.
• Accountable for adhering to all safety regulations outlined in the company and regulatory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as applicable.

• Manual dexterity - ability to handle tools and small parts efficiently.
• Capability to stand for long periods, bend, kneel, twist, and work in awkward positions.
• Lifting 50 Lbs. on a regular basis
• Good hand visual acuity and hand/eye coordination.
• Being exposed to outdoor elements (hot/cold weather, noise, rain, dusty, etc.)
• Occasionally working from levels over 4 feet from the ground (such as a ladder)

Wage Range: 30.00 - 36.00 per hour
