The overall function of this position is to provide supervision, guidance, and logistical support to mechanic and welding shops and parts office personnel conducting repair work on mobile equipment and/or smaller equipment with PC #'s owned by Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. This position is located in District 05/Operations/Unit 071/Ouachita Parish of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Equipment Superintendent.
This position provides supervision to employees performing mechanic and welding activities throughout District 05, which includes the parishes of Union, Lincoln, Jackson, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Madison, West Carroll, and East Carroll.
Minimum Qualifications
Four years of experience or training as a mechanic.

Job Duties And Other Information
Job Duties:

Supervises and schedules all mobile equipment repairs in the District 05 Monroe Mechanic and Welding Shop consisting of mechanical, welding, and preventive maintenance. Supervises the Parts Office for accuracy on part orders and purchases.

Assists subordinates with repairs as well as making minor repairs in the shop and in the field as needed.

Performs quality assurance/analysis on repaired vehicles and equipment and may inspect work performed by contract vendors.

Prepares estimates for equipment repairs. Ensures equipment assigned to Unit 071 is properly maintained. Completes preventive maintenance and building inspection forms and conducts safety meetings.

Prepares planning and evaluation sessions for the Performance Evaluation System (PES). Assists in conducting interviews and recommends individuals for new hires and promotions.

May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.
