Description:
Repairs and maintains hospital machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, blueprints and manufacturers’ specifications, using hand and power tools and precision-measuring and testing
instruments. Observes mechanical devices in operation, disassembles equipment to repair and/or replace defective parts, and/or tests equipment to ensure devices are in good operating order. Master seventy-five percent or more of the
major systems in the building. Be able to direct staff to make sure that work orders and projects are completed on a timely basis. Must have a good understanding of all systems in the building.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES
Education: High school education or equivalent (GED) required. Must be able to read and write English and perform mathematical calculations. Prefer specialized training of one to four years, and apprenticeship of trade school courses
with certificates in related areas.
Licensure: Prefers certificate in blueprint reading, schematic readings, basic electricity, troubleshooting and testing of control circuits, electrical measuring meters, AC power distribution systems, and construction methods, welding,
hydraulics, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, machine and equipment repair.
Experience: Five years’ journeyman experience required, accumulated experience in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, equipment repair and welding maintenance fields is required. Up to one-month on-the-job training to
learn locations of equipment, supplies, and organizational layout.
Other Job Requirements:
Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics and their applications.
Knowledge of machines, tools, including their design uses, repair and maintenance.
