Compensation & Schedule
- Pay Rate: $20/hour
- Hours: ~24 hours per week
- Shift Options: Flexible.
- Lunch: 30-minute unpaid lunch (mandatory)
- Payroll: Paid weekly
- PTO: Not provided; interns are paid only for hours worked
Work Environment
- Location: On-site at Unilux
- Commute: Must be able to commute
- Reporting: Directly to Engineering Manager
Training & Development
- Hands-on experience in 3D design and prototyping using SolidWorks
- Training provided in SolidWorks and other necessary tools
- Other training will be provided
Responsibilities
Design & Prototyping
- Assist with 3D modeling and prototyping using SolidWorks
- Support mechanical and electronic prototyping
- Create parametric designs
- Test prototyped parts/products and record results
3D Printing
- Set up and document 3D printing manufacturing
- Maintain 3D printing station
- Manufacture and test 3D-printed parts
Engineering Support
- Assist with mechanical and electronics design updates
- Help optimize product documentation and processes
- Assist with sourcing new components
- Assist with assembly of prototyped
Documentation
- Participate in product and prototype testing
- Create manufacturing and assembly drawings
- Document improvements and engineering changes
- Document new releases, new parts, updated BOMs in company ERP system
- Create project reports
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Support Service department
- Engage with Inventory, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and other teams
Tools & Systems
- Use Jira, Teams, Outlook, and engineering databases
- Learn SolidWorks via SolidProfessor training
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Attention to detail is a must
- Ability to work independently
- Curiosity and willingness to learn
- Experience with 3D printing and design
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar CAD software (development training provided)
- Prior experience working on engineering or design projects is a plus
- Working with power tools
- Assembly
- Soldering
- Experience with Arduino and C++ is a plus
