Position Summary

A manufacturing company in Littleton, MA is seeking a Buyer to join its Supply Chain team. This role is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, components, and services essential for the production of complex electromechanical systems. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical commodity purchasing experience and works effectively with Engineering, Production, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

• Source, quote, negotiate, and place purchase orders for mechanical commodities, including machined parts, hardware, cable/wire harnesses, PCBs, subassemblies, and specialized manufacturing services.
• Ensure all purchased materials comply with applicable regulatory and quality standards (FDA, ISO 13485).
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships; conduct vendor evaluations, performance reviews, site visits, and improvement initiatives.
• Identify, assess, and qualify new suppliers to enhance the supplier base.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to support prototype builds, manage obsolescence, and process engineering change orders (ECOs).
• Perform cost analysis, contribute to make/buy decisions, and participate in cost-reduction and value-engineering efforts.
• Track, analyze, and report supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness metrics.
• Expedite critical materials and parts to maintain production schedules and minimize downtime.
• Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier-related issues.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and ensure compliance with internal quality and regulatory systems.
• Prepare and present procurement metrics, cost-savings reports, and purchasing documentation.
• Support internal and external audits as needed.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $38.07 - $39.84 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
