Mechanical Commissioning Technician

Doha, Qatar

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and follow the commissioning procedure and drawing.
  • Ensure complete adherence to the Permit to Work system and other safety requirements.
  • Perform system walkdowns and assist in identifying any issues/problems in the system.
  • Support in verifying the clearance of punch items raised during the Mechanical Completion (MC) Walkdowns.
  • Execute pressure leak testing of piping and equipment as per the Leak Test Packs and Mark-ups.
  • Carry out flushing and cleaning activities for piping and equipment.
  • Support for preparation of Leak Test Packs, mark-ups, red-line mark-ups, etc.
  • Assisting specialized vendors for activities like chemical cleaning and lube oil flushing.
  • Perform rotating equipment cold and hot alignment checks.
  • Support the Commissioning Engineer in filling the Inspection Test Report (ITR) for the commissioning activities.
  • Support the Subsystem Walk downs, test (SAT) and commissioning activities identified for the systems / sub- systems.
  • Operation of temporary equipment like pumps, compressors, generators, dryers, etc.
  • Perform any preservation activities required for mechanical equipment including lube oil checks, top-ups, oil and filter change, lubrication requirements as per the lubrication schedule till start-up.
  • Ability to perform preventive or corrective maintenance at site like seal replacement, pump or compressor overhauling under supervision of the vendor or mechanical lead engineers.
  • Mechanical Reinstatement after testing including removal of blinds, reinstatement of spools, valves, spacers as per requirement.
  • Conducting torquing, bolt tensioning, flange management and valve greasing as per requirement.
  • Comply with CONTRACTOR/COMPANY HSE requirements, to achieve a level of zero harm, accidents, or injuries and no defect or unwanted discharge nor leaks.
  • Ensuring that safety aspects of work are followed in accordance with the overall Project HSE Plan.
  • Supporting Construction and site Engineering Team in clearing punch list items from FAT, Construction and commissioning phase.
  • Complete where applicable associated pre-commissioning / commissioning certification in accordance with the requirements of the project Completions Management System and associated procedures
  • Update the Commissioning Foreman with daily updates and support for the preparation of the Daily Report.

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma/ITI in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent diploma from recognized Universities
  • Minimum Seven (7) years Oil and Gas Industry experience in Mechanical system commissioning
  • Safety certificates including PTW, confined space, gas testing, lifting operations, etc

Required Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience with current and relevant experience in all aspects of Mechanical equipment / systems pre-commissioning / commissioning within the O&G or related Industry.
  • Ability to demonstrate good understanding of risks associated with working in Hazardous Areas.
  • Good knowledge of O&G related QHSE safe working practices and procedures.
  • Experience in commissioning compressors, pumps and turbines.
  • Experience in commissioning piping systems.
  • Knowledge of Completions process and the ability to understand / complete related check-sheets

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: QAR1.00 - QAR2.00 per month
