Role Purpose

The Mechanical Team Leader is responsible for leading a team of technicians and site personnel in the installation, execution, and maintenance of mechanical systems on a construction site. This role ensures that all mechanical works are carried out according to approved drawings, project specifications, safety standards, and within set timeframes. 

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate mechanical site teams (technicians, fitters, welders, etc.).
  • Ensure proper installation of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting.
  • Interpret and implement mechanical drawings, specifications, and site instructions.
  • Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and other site disciplines to maintain smooth workflow and avoid conflicts.
  • Ensure all mechanical work complies with project specifications, safety rules, and quality standards.
  • Assist in daily task planning, manpower allocation, and progress monitoring.
  • Inspect completed work and ensure it meets quality requirements before inspections or handovers.
  • Report delays, issues, and technical problems to site engineers or project management.
  • Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are available and in proper working condition.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and enforce safety awareness among team members.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.

  • Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in mechanical works within construction projects.

  • Proven experience in supervising mechanical installations and leading site teams.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and installation methods.

  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards.

  • Good communication, leadership, and coordination skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and site instructions.

  • Basic knowledge of MS Office; AutoCAD is a plus.
