Mechanical Design Assistant Manager

Job Responsibilities:

Design Management & Coordination:

- Lead the review, coordination, and approval of mechanical design packages (HVAC, plumbing, fire-fighting, BMS, and other building services).

- Ensure mechanical design solutions align with operator requirements, brand standards, and local authority regulations.

- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other consultants to integrate mechanical systems into the overall design.

- Oversee preparation and validation of mechanical shop drawings, technical submittals, and material approvals.

Project Oversight & Renovation Focus:

- Manage mechanical design elements in hotel renovation projects, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

- Evaluate existing building systems, recommend upgrades, and ensure cost-effective and sustainable solutions.

- Monitor site progress to confirm mechanical installations are in line with approved design and project timelines.

Standards & Compliance:

- Ensure compliance with international hospitality standards, local building codes, fire safety, and environmental regulations.

- Implement energy efficiency and sustainability measures across all mechanical systems.

- Align designs with operator’s operational requirements for guest comfort, safety, and maintenance efficiency.

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration:

- Act as the key liaison for all mechanical scope matters between hotel operators, consultants, and contractors.

- Provide regular updates, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior management.

- Support procurement in the evaluation and selection of MEP contractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
• 8–11 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in design management / project management roles.
• Strong background in hospitality, mixed-use developments, or large-scale renovation projects.
• Proven expertise in HVAC, plumbing, fire-fighting, and building automation systems.
• Familiarity with international hotel operator standards (e.g., Marriott, Hilton, Accor) is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of sustainability and green building certifications (LEED, EDGE, etc.) is an advantage.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Technical proficiency in design review and value engineering.
• Ability to manage multiple renovation projects simultaneously.
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and operational practicality.
• Presentation skills are an addition.

Software Skills

- ACAD is a must.

- Revit is a plus.
