Mechanical Design Engineer – Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical design calculations, drawings, and specifications for construction projects.
• Design HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, and other mechanical systems.
• Ensure designs comply with project requirements, local regulations, and international standards.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines.
• Review and respond to RFIs, shop drawings, and technical submittals.
• Provide design support during construction and resolve site-related issues.
• Participate in design reviews, value engineering, and technical meetings.
• Coordinate with consultants and authorities for approvals and inspections.
• Ensure designs are safe, efficient, cost-effective, and buildable.
• Maintain accurate design documentation and revision control.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in mechanical design for building or construction projects.
• 5-10 years of experience
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems.
• Familiarity with local authority regulations and international standards (ASHRAE, BS, NFPA, etc.).
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical design software.
• Experience in preparing design calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary MEP and design teams.
• Experience handling RFIs, shop drawings, and technical submittals.
• Good communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
