Mechanical Design Engineer (SolidWorks)

Location: Umm Al Quwain (GET Fabrication – Workshop & Project-Based Support)

Role Purpose

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for accurate and production-ready SolidWorks drawings that directly support fabrication activities at GET Fabrication.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Engineering

• Develop 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings using SolidWorks for:
• Diesel storage tanks (bulk, day tanks, bunded tanks)
• Trailers
• Acoustic enclosures, canopies, containers
• Battery racks, louvers, ducting, silencers, exhaust systems

Fabrication Support

• Produce shop drawings, cutting lists, and BOMs (Bills of Materials) ready for production
• Coordinate closely with:
• Fabrication supervisors
• Production Supervisor
• Procurment & Logistic Manager
• QC and painting teams
• Support estimation
• Revise drawings based on actual workshop feedback, not assumptions
• Attend fabrication discussions when design clarification is required

Documentation & Control

• Maintain drawing registers, revision control, and as-built drawings
• Prepare:
• Nameplates and data plates
• Sticker layouts and labels
• Ensure all issued drawings are correct, approved, and traceable

Authority & Accountability

• Fully accountable for drawing accuracy
• Responsible for reducing:
• Fabrication errors
• Revisions caused by poor design
• Expected to flag design issues early

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 3–5 years experience in fabrication or heavy engineering environment
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks
• Strong understanding of:
• Sheet metal fabrication
• Welding practices
• Structural steel
• Tanks and enclosures
• Ability to read and interpret client specifications and GA drawings

At GET Fabrication, this engineer is expected to design, support, fix, and improve — with full accountability for what goes to the workshop.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED2,000.00 - AED3,000.00 per month
