Mechanical Design Engineer (UPDA) – Fire Fighting / Water Supply / Drainage

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in Fire Fighting Systems, Water Supply Networks, and Drainage Systems to join our engineering design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, reviewing, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, while delivering high-quality and efficient mechanical system designs for a variety of building and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop detailed mechanical design drawings for Fire-Fighting systems, water supply, and drainage, using CAD and BIM tools.

- Perform calculations, sizing, and selection of mechanical equipment, pumps, and piping systems in accordance with project specifications.

- Prepare technical reports, design documents, and BOQs (Bill of Quantities) for submission and approvals.

- Ensure designs comply with international and local codes/standards (NFPA, ASHRAE, UPC, BS, Qatar Civil Defense regulations, etc.).

- Coordinate with architectural, structural, and MEP teams to ensure design integration and resolve technical conflicts.

- Conduct design reviews and provide technical support during construction phases.

- Participate in client meetings and present design solutions, ensuring client requirements are met.

- Stay updated with the latest technologies, materials, and best practices in mechanical engineering design.

Qualifications & Skills:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).

- Minimum [5] years of proven experience in MEP consultancy or contracting, with focus on Fire-Fighting, water supply, and drainage system design.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation software.

- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NFPA, ASHRAE, BS, UPC, IPC, etc.).

- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

- UPDA/MMUP certification (preferred for Qatar).
