We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Drafter with a minimum of 2 years of experience in aerospace and/or automotive tooling. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SolidWorks drafting software and have familiarity with CATIA. This hands-on position involves working collaboratively with our shop, clients, and suppliers to design new tooling and equipment, and create comprehensive 3D modeling design packages.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Mechanical Drafter utilizes manual methods and/or computer-aided drafting programs to translate design information and specifications from engineers into schematics, technical drawings and production plans. This aids in the manufacturing of specialized tools and equipment. This position will be responsible for new tooling and equipment designs to solve our clients' needs, 3D modeling to create design packages, and establishing QC standards.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop detailed mechanical drawings and designs for new tooling and equipment.
• Utilize SolidWorks drafting software to create precise and accurate designs.
• Collaborate with the engineering team, shop floor, clients, and suppliers to ensure designs meet specifications and requirements.
• Create 3D models and design packages using SolidWorks and CATIA.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure designs meet industry standards.
• Review and modify designs based on feedback and project requirements.
• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Provide technical support and guidance during the manufacturing process.
• Maintain accurate records of designs, revisions, and project documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

• Proficiency in SolidWorks drafting software is required; familiarity with CATIA is a plus.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards applicable to mechanical drafting.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, mathematical abilities, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and quickly adapt to change.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, technical) to effectively interact with clients, suppliers, and team members.
• Must have a strong sense of urgency, be time-sensitive and highly motivated.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred; however, candidates with strong technical training backgrounds will also be considered.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in aerospace and/or automotive tooling.
