Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in plumbing system design, analysis, and implementation to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, reviewing, and overseeing the installation of plumbing systems for a wide range of commercial, residential, and industrial projects.

You will work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure high-quality, code-compliant, and efficient mechanical solutions are delivered on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop plumbing systems including water supply, drainage, stormwater, and vent systems according to local and international codes (e.g., IPC, UPC).
• Prepare technical drawings, schematics, specifications, and cost estimates for plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Perform calculations for pipe sizing, pressure losses, pump selection, water heater sizing, and flow rates.
• Conduct site inspections and field coordination to ensure installation adheres to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including HVAC, fire protection, and electrical engineers.
• Review and approve submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings related to plumbing systems.
• Ensure all systems meet health, safety, and sustainability standards, including LEED or local green building regulations if applicable.
• Troubleshoot system issues and provide solutions during construction and post-construction phases.
• Stay current with advancements in plumbing materials, equipment, and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on plumbing system design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), and plumbing design software (e.g., H2OCalc, Pipe Flow Expert).
• Strong knowledge of relevant plumbing codes (IPC, UPC, ASPE standards).
• Excellent understanding of hydraulic and fluid mechanics principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT preferred.
• Experience in BIM coordination is a plus.
