HIRING - MECHANICAL ENGINEER

LOCATION - ABUDHABI

Job Summary: The Senior Project Engineer - Mechanical (PE-Mechanical) is responsible for overseeing all mechanical engineering activities related to construction projects. This includes planning, designing, procuring, supervising installation, and commissioning mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and ventilation. The role demands technical expertise, leadership, and coordination skills to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Management

· Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets for mechanical systems.

· Define scope of work, resources, and key deliverables.

· Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

· Coordinate with project teams to align mechanical activities with overall project timelines.

2. Design Review & Technical Oversight

· Review mechanical design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation prepared by consultants or in-house teams.

· Ensure compliance with local codes, international standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA), and client requirements.

· Conduct value engineering to optimize mechanical system designs.

· Approve shop drawings, technical submittals, and installation procedures.

3. Procurement & Material Management

· Assist in sourcing mechanical equipment, materials, and subcontractors.

· Evaluate vendor proposals, review technical bids, and negotiate terms.

· Approve procurement documentation, RFQs, and material submittals.

· Monitor procurement schedules to ensure timely delivery.

4. Construction & Site Supervision

· Supervise the installation of mechanical systems, ensuring adherence to design, safety, and quality standards.

· Coordinate with other disciplines (electrical, civil, structural) for integrated installation.

· Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and progress assessments.

· Troubleshoot technical issues during installation and commissioning.

5. Quality Assurance & Safety

· Ensure all mechanical works comply with safety regulations, standards, and project specifications.

· Participate in safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations.

· Implement quality control procedures and conduct inspections to maintain high standards.

6. Project Monitoring & Reporting

· Monitor project progress, costs, and resource utilization.

· Prepare progress reports, technical reports, and documentation.

· Manage changes in scope, including RFIs, change orders, and variation claims.

· Communicate project status and issues to stakeholders.

7. Team Leadership & Development

· Mentor and supervise junior engineers and technical staff.

· Assign tasks, review work, and provide technical guidance.

· Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

8. Qualifications & Skills:

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering within the construction industry, managing large-scale projects such as commercial, industrial, or infrastructure.

Technical Knowledge:

Expertise in HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical equipment.

Familiarity with design software (AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, etc.).

Knowledge of international and local codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, IPC, etc.).

Project Management Skills: Proficiency with project scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera), cost control, and resource management.

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with teams, clients, and suppliers.

Leadership & Problem-Solving: Ability to lead teams, resolve technical issues, and make decisions under pressure.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

Primarily site-based handling multiple site.

Ability to work in construction environments, sometimes in challenging conditions.

Flexibility to work extended hours to meet project deadline
