Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineer – Centrifuge Project

Are you a driven mechanical engineer looking for hands-on, high-impact work in the advanced energy sector? Join our team at Centrus Energy to support the critical Centrifuge Project. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in designing, troubleshooting, and delivering innovative, high-vacuum, and composite systems, ensuring our technology meets stringent safety and performance standards.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design & Innovate: Create, design, and optimize complex mechanical systems, including high-vacuum systems, composite parts, welded components, and precision-machined assemblies.
  • Analyze & Troubleshoot: Perform structural and dynamic analysis to ensure reliability, and troubleshoot engineering issues from prototyping to production.
  • Documentation & Specs: Develop specifications for fabrication materials and equipment, and manage the creation, review, and approval of comprehensive engineering packages.
  • Project Execution: Manage multiple priorities to ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with manufacturing, operations, testing, quality, and procurement teams to drive project success.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to rigorous company policies, procedures, security protocols, and environmental/safety regulations.

What You Bring (Qualifications):

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in an engineering environment.
  • Note: A Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering can be used to substitute for 1 year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points):

  • Technical Skills: 3-5 years of CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred) and experience using FEA software (Ansys preferred).
  • Specialized Knowledge: Experience with centrifuge design, testing, or manufacturing.
  • Quality & Mfg: Experience with lean manufacturing principles and QL-1 or QL-2 quality parts/systems.
  • Security Clearance: Active DOE Q-level or DOD TS security clearance.

This position requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain a Q security clearance. In addition, once employe, employees will become part of a random drug testing program and may also be tested in the event of any incident causing injury or causing damage to property, or if it is determined that there is a reasonable suspicion the employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This position will require preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a Q security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government. Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required.
