Job Description: Mechanical Engineer (Piping / Welding / Steel) – Oil & Gas
Location: Doha, Qatar (Candidates must be locally available with valid QID & transferable visa/NOC)
Contract Type: Full‑Time (Immediate Hiring)
Role Overview
We are hiring experienced Mechanical Engineers specializing in Piping, Welding, and Steel Fabrication for oil & gas projects in Qatar. The ideal candidate must have strong technical knowledge of piping systems, structural steel works, welding processes, QA/QC requirements, and site installation activities. The role requires hands‑on engineering supervision, site coordination, inspection, and adherence to project specifications and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, piping layouts, isometrics, material specifications, and welding procedures.
- Supervise piping fabrication, spool assembly, structural steel erection, and site welding activities.
- Ensure all works comply with project specifications, method statements, ITPs, and quality standards.
- Conduct inspections of piping fit-up, welding, alignment, supports, and steel structures before and after installation.
- Coordinate with Fabricators, Welders, Supervisors, and QC teams for timely execution and issue resolution.
- Verify materials, dimensions, welding consumables, WPS/PQR compliance, and fabrication tolerances.
- Identify non‑conformities and report them to the QC/Project Engineer with recommended corrective actions.
- Prepare daily site reports, inspection records, technical documentation, and progress updates.
- Ensure strict compliance with HSE procedures, permit-to-work systems, and safe engineering practices.
- Participate in technical meetings, site coordination activities, and client/consultant inspections.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
- Previous experience in piping, welding, or steel fabrication within oil & gas projects.
- Strong understanding of fabrication drawings, piping isometrics, and material standards (ASME/ASTM).
- Working knowledge of WPS, PQR, welder qualifications, NDT requirements, and fabrication tolerances.
- Ability to read and use engineering measurement tools (vernier calipers, gauges, micrometers, etc.).
- Familiarity with site installation, testing (hydrostatic/pneumatic), and commissioning activities is an advantage.
- Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
- Must be currently in Qatar with a valid QID and transferable Visa/NOC.
- Immediate availability is mandatory.
